My 1990 FT knocks pretty much at any speed....hot or cold....light or heavy acceleration. I tried 89 octane with new spark plugs and it didn't change a bit. Is there something I can do with the timing to stop the knocking?....or anything else? Any advise would be appreciated!

Check the head gasket because when the engine starts knocking, the first thing that should be checked is the head gasket. It may be blown or it may be getting reasy to blow.

I found some head gasket repair stuff at Autozone, that is supposed to repair head gaskets. It has pretty extensive instructions on draining the cooling system....adding the stuff with water and warming up the car, then doing it again 12 hours later, then refilling the coolant and you're done. Has anyone tried this stuff before? See here.... http://www.barsproducts.com/product.cfm?id=41

I've used Bars a couple of times and had no problems, but before you do anything regarding the head gasket, ask yourself this question; could it be a bent rod? Also, if you changed the oil recently, the lifter could have collapsed and that will eventually quit knocking once you take the car around the block and such. If it was a lifter that collapsed, don't worry. Just make sure you check the head gasket and check the rods.
