Hey guys,
What is the usual cause for a bottom end knock, that doesn't go away. I just bought the truck, so I know nothing about its history. I plan on pulling the oil pan, and taking a look, I'm just not sure what to look for.
Worse case, if my 5.4 motor has severe bottom end damage, i called the local dealership and they have a factory reman 5.4 for $2900. But, I know the 2005 5.4 motors are now 3 valve, and produce more Hp. So, I was wondering if I could install a 3 valve "reman" motor in place of my old 2 valve engine? I assume the auto tranny will bolt right up. What changes would I have to do, to swap my old design 5.4 for the newer 3 valve motor?
