Just Purchased a used 98 escort ZX2 and the 5th gear does not work, I hear theres a service entrance to repair this that can be Accessed behind the driver front tire, is this true and then how hard of a job is it to change out the part
thanks for the help
Wes

IF the gear is bad I'd suspect you'd have to remove it to make any repairs to it.

On some models there is a back cover that you can remove that will expose 5th gear. If it wont go into 5th gear the syncro ring could be broke and not letting the slider go into gear.
