i finally found a ford galaxie forum!

i have a question though. i have a 59 galaxie that has sat for a very long time. the wheels are actually rusting through and pitted very badly. i work in a tire shop and have access to decent used tires for free, and come across 16" tires more often than the 195/75r14 which normally fit this car.

anyway, my question is: are there any 16" steelies that have a ford bolt pattern that would fit under this car? the only 16"steel rims i can think of off the top of my head all come on heavy duty trucks and chevy's bigger cars liek the newer impala. do new dodge products have the same bolt pattern as ford now? i think the intrepids have 16x6.5 or 7 steels, but will they work on a stock suspensioned galaxie?

what all f-100 or f-150s have the dog dish style caps with a 14 or 15 steel wheel?

also, does anyone make a patch panel for the front lower hood portion for a 59?

thanks for any info.

The stock suspension requires stock width tires in the front.  and the rear fenders/quarters don't leave much room either. I put 15" Ford chrome rims on my '64 Galaxie. The older lug patterns were only different between cars and trucks. All cars fit - all trucks fit unless they had more or less than 5-lugs. You may even find a newer Mustang to with 5-lugs to have the same pattern as your Galaxie. Galaxie, Torino, Mustang, Fairlane and most older and newer Ford 5-lug wheel production rear wheel drive cars (even some others) use the same wheels. Rim size can be bigger (not wider) and with the bigger rim you'll use a tire with a thinner sidewall.
