It would be controlled by the PCM, you can probably change out the computer with one out of the Police Interceptor model which I am guessing limits at 140mph but never gone over 80mph so I cant tell you for sure. But it is definitely a computer controlled issue.

In response to your rev limiter problem I have discovered how to eliminate the problem. I own a '04 Sport CV & after I replaced my stock intake system with a K&N cold air intake system I discovered I was limited to 118 mph by the limiter.I usualy got off of it around 100 because I heard they were limited at that speed. In the newer cars like yours & mine the only way is to utilize a "Superchip" micro tuner that eleminates the limiter, gives one the ability to adjust shift points etc. The older CV's had a chip you could change to enhance performance. That's the good news. The bad news is one of those tuners costs $425.25 with part # 1724. As you can see I've checked into it. I normally don't run above 85-90 here in Missouri since the Highway Patrol gets a little excited when you do. Hope this is some help.

yeah, I would assume that the only way to change that would be by reprogramming your computer with a chip, My CV actually tops out at 135mph.

Actually soory I missed the part about compromising the warranty. I would your dealer first, reprogramming the settings on your computer could void your warranty I would think.
