I have a 1997 E250 with a 4.2 litre I just finished rebuilding. Started it for a couple moments last night before putting belt on and before adding water and it seemed to run fine. This morning I finished hooking up radiator, fan belt and added water. (also intalled a factory speed control kit) and now when I start the engine it will run fine for a moment and then suddenly die. and will continue to die out even if you step on the peddle to try and keep it running. Also, no error codes display if I hook up a code reader. Haven't a clue to what the problem might be. Looking for help.

Thanks,

Randy

I am only guessing but maybe this will help see that the crank sensor is connected and tight. Also check your ground from motor to chassis. All wire to the fuel injection and all the other wonderful crap connected. If one piece is not connected it can cause a shutdown. Make sure the ground wire to the chassis is tight and clean. Hope this helps.

Have you checked fuel pressure?  see wheter or not the vehicle will run on starting fluid when it starts to die out.  check any wiring that may have gotten disturbed by installation of water pump.
