What kinds of problems are common that I should look for. Are there common suspension problems, oil leaks, anything like that I should look for. I'm probably going to be buying a 97-99 within the next few weeks and basically plan to use it for towing 4 wheelers and occasionally cars.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

a common problem with the expeditions is the egr system whether i may me the valve itself which is rare but usually some sensor with the egr system will go bad no biggie

No major problem's with the Expedition's.When buying just keep your eye's and ear's open.

Look for maintence condition's
Was it taken care or. look at all fluids.Belts tire's body.
Any fresh paint?It may have been in a major accedent!
Road test it listen for noises not the radio.
Turn the key on is the check engine light on?
Start the engine see if the check engine light on?
Just use common sence when buying if you get a bad feeling about it dont buy it the bad feeling could last a long time.
You also may want to get a Car fax report to see the history.
