hey i have had the truck parked in my garage. yesterday i went to start it and the abs light stayed on. anyone else have this problem?

more than likely a dirty sensor. unless you can tell something is wrong just ignore it and have someone shut the light off. had this problem with my truck and bronco 2.

It could be.If thats the case take it for a ride if every thing seem's fine. Reset the computer and test drive again. If the abs light comes on again I would take it somewear to have it read for codes.If not I would not worry about it.

My dad's Bronco II has had that light on for years now. No problems, but the light is anoying. Someone once said to replace the RABS (rear antilock brake sensor) but we cant find it on the bronco II.

I belive the bronco II rear abs sensor is in the rear end.It is a magnetic pick up.Pull it out and clean the metal flakes off it.

The Front sensors are accessed by taking the front calipers, rotor and the frame that holds them off. Then there is a allen cap screw that has to removed and then the sensor can be pulled out and cleaned. The rear sensor is located on the top of the pumpkin towards the front and is held by a 10MM hex screw. It's easiest to get to from the drivers side rear wheel well. ( take off the tire first)

After all that my light still is on. All my brakes are new within the last two months. How does one reset the computer????????[:@]

More than likely the problem. The sensor is located right on top of the center differential, and only held on by on bolt, but does have o-ring and can sometimes be hard to remove from housing.

Hey Daleneg, unhook your battery and lat it sit for a few seconds then hook it up again. This should clear your light. Also, my dad has a 1999 ranger 2wd 4-banger that he bought strictly to drive to work so he doesn't destroy his 03 chevy 2500H.D. and he had the same problem and it ended up being his rear speed sensor, but also his speedometer would act up too. Let me know how it works out.

Can't help much if it's 4 wheel ABS. But if you have rear only abs (RABS), I believe most problems are cleared up by just removing the sensor on top of the differential and cleaning or replacing it. The RABS valve is located on the inside of the frame rail just under the drivers feet. Check the connector on that too. I believe the controller is under the dash, but I've never messed with that. I'd clean the sensor first, and go from there.
