what is the towing capability of my truck, and i was thinking of getting a class 4, would it be bad to get one or would it make a difference, i see on sites that newer xlt f-150's can tow up to 6500 lbs, does that mean i need a class 4? i dont know squat about towing and tow accessories and such, thanks for the help.

Dragon child, If your worried about taking good care of you truck do like I did and run full synthetic mobil one 5-20. If your truck has a factory tow package and your not over loading the weight than you have nothing to worry about. Just run the 5-20. Oh yea, use the Motorcraft filter over others unless you want to spend the money to get a hight dollar k/n type oil filter. The Motorcraft filter has a better anti-drain valve than the comps on the shelf.
Enjoy your truck

I had a 2002 supercab with the 4.6l 3.55ls rear it had 17" wheels. This info is needed to get the tow rating. My truck came with the factory tow package and this info calculated my tow rating at 6,200lb.

Look in your owners manual for info on tow ratings.
use your engine size, axle size and your wheel size to determine your tow rating

I don't see any reason why you couldn't put a class IV hitch or even a class V. Just don't exceed the tow rating. Your going to do some towing, get a transmission cooler. It comes standard with a tow package. Also your at 25k miles you should get the tranny flushed soon. These transmissions can shudder if not serviced regularly.

Good luck with your move.

I have an '05 F-150 and have used nothing but Amsoil 0W30 oil in it since it turned 1,100 miles. the amsoil oils are top notch.
