i have had the entire front end put on new and the rear shocks also. i still have the noise. the people that did the front end work actually did it twice at no cost to me the second time because they hear the noise too and they cant find it and thought it might be a defective strut or sway bar or tie rod. its a thud. i have a 98 windstar gl.new tires and alighnment and balanced. any ideas anyone? we are leaving to go on a 3000 mile trip week after next so i guess we will just have to listen to it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to diagnose over the internet. I would just bring it to another mechanic.

Is it an annoying "clunking" sound when going over small bumps or imperfections in the road? If so, then it may be sway-bar links that are worn, but not broken causing the noise.

I took it to the ford garage and they diagnosed it to be a worn front tension strut bushing. they then told me who might be able to fix it. so i got an appt with this firm and he looked at it and said it would probably take 3-4 hrs. the next morning he called ford to make sure he was talking about the same problem. asked if they had some one to come show him where if was and they had noone to come. so he preceded to spend 3 hours on the spot .i showed him where it was. after about 3 hrs a man from ford dealership came by with a tsb showing the problem and how it could be fixed in and hr. the man that fixed it told me he was going to contact ford about this bill,especially most of the labor.im not holding my breath. by the way he fixed the problem. tsb-97-26-24 98 windstar
