Hey Everyone,[image][/image]

Well I just wanted to introduce myself because its my first time on this fourm. I have a 94 Ford Escort Hatchback and its giving me problems like most fords do. Anyways I like the car and I want to learn how to fix these things myself. So I am hoping if you would give me some advice. It would help.

1. What is best? I brought my car to a a mechantic and they said I needed a new steering. They were charging me $425 for the part and labor. Is that a good price? If I were to do it myself what would i need?

2. When I first got my car, the car had a little problem. When you would drive it, it was fine but when you stopped a light or stop sign it would shut off. So I got it fixed and it was because air getting into the engine. But now the engine knocks and sometimes doesnt want to excel. Its like its fighting with itself. Does anyone know why this would happen? What do you think it needs?

A steering rack remanifactured from a auto part's store would cost around $150.00 and would not recomend it for a beginner.It can be a pain for a pro.If you realy want to tackle it you will need a socket set wrench's and a tie rod fork and an alignment. As for the engine is the check engine light on?

$450.00 ia not too bad for the repair.

The check engine light has been on ever since I got it. I got it fixed and it still comes on. So Im not sure if its more then the engine.

Take to autozone and have the read the code's(free) and post the code's here and we will look them up for you.
