Just joined the forum because I have a problem with my vehichle. Its a 72 econoline custom 100. 302 and 3 speed column shift. Here is what happened. I pushed in the clutch to shift, heard a bang like metal snapping and the pedal went down to the floor. One of the clutch linkages was broke so i fixed that and when it still wouldnt disengage the clutch i climbed under. I found that there was no linkage adjustment on it. I never saw the piece but it must have fallen off due to corrosion, threads stripping or any number of other causes. Whatever the cause, I attemped to make my own adjuster based off what it seemed like it should have to be but as I have never seen it, that is kind of a shot in the dark. I also replaced the clutch, throwout bearing and clutch fork. The first adjustment piece i made was about 2 inches long and it was way too short. The second one is about 5 inches. After I attatched the second one, I took out all the free play i could feel, but the clutch still wont disengage. There is a large amount of tension on the pedal which makes me belive that it is infact pushing the throwout bearing on the pressure plate, and while it still goes smoothly to the floor I cannont put it in gear due to gears in the transmission not stopping because the clutch is still engaged. Any information you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.
