Hi all-

Recently someone attempted to break into my 2006 F-350 by using a screwdriver in the door lock. I contacted the dealership to find out how much they wanted to replace the door lock cylinder, and needless to say it was pretty substantial. Does anyone here have any experience with replacing these, and if so, how involved is it? Do I need special tools? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is not too bad.

You would have to take the interior door panel off wich may require a special tool to take off the window crank.

With the window up you should be able to see the back of the lock.

Pry out the clip and disconnect the lock rod.

94 4x4 Ranger. I just sold one ,it was an awesome pickup. Thanks for the reply!!

If I pop off the door panel, will I have to replace the plastic thinga ma jiggys that hold on the panel, or will I be able to re-use them and have the panel sit tight the way it is now?

You'll need a #20 torx driver to remove the w/crank if manual windows.. (outter crank cover 'snaps on' at the larger end) If power windows, 'pop' up the switch plate at the very front towards the mirror control switch, then slide it forward to release the rear tab and disconnect the switches, also, there will be a panel bolt there to remove.. Same thing if a manual set up, only pull up the front arm/cover to access the panel bolt.. Remove the mirror dress panel by pulling straight off.. Then, remove the red door panel reflector by inserting a small screw driver in the slot and 'gently' releasing the tab by prying to the side towards the center of the panel.. There's a panel mounting bolt behind it as well.. Then ONLY lift the door panel off.. Don't pull it away from the door as these panels have a series of 'legs' that drop into the door shell.. There are no spring clips, or plastic push in clips on these panels to reuse.. The moisture guard will need to be carefully pulled away to be able to get at some of the outer handle nuts.. One of the handle nuts is accessed behind the rubber plug on the outter most door shell/jam above the latch..

Well thanks for your help guys, It took me all of about 30 minutes to finish the replacement. And about 1/4 the cost the dealership wanted to charge me. Thanks again!!!
