My Escort is blowing out the front pump seal (torque converter) on the 4eat automatic. Any chance it may be a bad pump letting pressure build up behind the seal? Does anyone know how to pull the pump out? I have a spare trans with a good pump but I don't know how to get it out.............Roger

Another idea is maybe when the torqu converter goes into lockup the hydrolic pressure is leaking by and getting behind the front pump seal and blowing it out. The car drives and shifts fine, just blowing the seal off ts boss.......Roger

Has this vechile had recent tranny work done on it ?? Normally you gotta use some type of seal driver, to install these seals in the pump,,,, I have to wonder if the correct seal is being used,,,, Or if it was damaged when installed,,, or not being driven all the way in.,,,,, you may want to try putting a very SMALL bit of loctite around the outer flange of the seal. An then drive it into the case,,,,, normally theres a machined lip in the pump housing that the seal is suppose to stop against on the back side

There should be a case vent somewhere on the trans ,, that may be plugged allowing excessive pressure build up
