Just purchased a 1994 tempo for my little brother (1st car). Have had it exactly 24hrs and the service engine soon light came on. It does not stay on all the time, it comes on after about 15-20 minutes of driving.You can turn the car off and then back on and the light goes off for amother 15-20 min. before coming back on. I contacted the dealer where I bought the car and was told to replace the gas cap (which I did and now it takes a little longer for the light to come on but it still comes on). Was told that this is an emisssion problem and in no way would effect the preformace of the car and would not cause harm to drive with the light on. Can anybody tell me what this could possible be and is it ok to drive with light on? Thank.

if the lite comes on its setting a code , you can go to most parts store an for free they will your codes. ( trick is they are going to try an sell you parts however ).

anyway get the codes an come back we'll try to help you
