I am a huge Ford fan and our family is in the market for a mini-van. We are considering an '07 Freestar, but we've heard that past Ford mini-vans have had transmission troubles. How does the Freestar's transmission stack up against the competition? Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HI, we have a 06 freestyle limited - FWD.. it is GREAT... It has a CVT Transmission, No shift shock.. just like the nissan Maxima. i don't know if ford is using it in the 07 model. but , if it has the CVT - you will be fine. The freestyle is built on the Volvo XC90 Frame. Best Crossover out there.. much nicer than theminivan we sold our windstar for this .. Big improvement... no complaints...

The Ford Freestyle is a great vehicle that has been kicked in the groin by clueless management at Ford. The 3.0 engine and CVT are OK but most people need extra power and torque for towing. The good engine and transmission will be in the Ford Edge. It's no wonder that Ford lost billions last quarter.
