i have a 2000 ford ranger extended cab that i just bought and has 43000 miles.
what brush guard and grill guard would you recommend for it and do most of them bolt on or drill to fit.

Your better off bulding your own or have afriend bulid one for you. I have only seen ranger guards from Westin and they are $300 some odd dollars. It is much better if you bolt it to the frame rather than weld. Because of you hit something with it welded on the force will go straight to the frame and possibly bend it or tweak it. If you hit something with it bolted on it will break the bolts before effecting your frame.
