Rear anti-lock brake light on - 10/6/2006 9:05:47 AM    dae06   Posts: 7 Score: 0 Joined: 10/6/2006 Status: offline I just bought a 1991 Ford Ranger XLT for my son (94,000 miles). After I got it home, I noticed that the brake light (RED) and the Anti-lock light (amber) came on. They do go off sporadically and are off more than they are on, but what causes this and is there a simple fix? Thanks Post #: 1

There is a sensor in the rear end for the ABS system. Pull it out and clean it if there is any metal on the end of the sensor replace the fluid in the rear. After you install the sensor disconnect the ground on the battery for a few minutes to clear the stored code.
