Good day:
Need your expertise on what the towing capacity is for my truck.....a 2004 F350 Supercab, 6.0L Diesel, 4x4, automatic transmission, SRW, short-box. I believe it is 20,000lb, however cannot find it anywhere, not even in my Owner's Guide,...it lists the 6.8L engine...

Am planning to buy a fifth wheel, a Hitchhiker II L/S 29.5 FKTG with a weight of 11, 780lb with full freshwater and LP gas. (hitch weight is 2,180lb and axle weight is 9,600lb) , so could be a little more when I add clothes, groceries, and some beer, etc.

My truck gvw is 9900lb, however have yet to weigh it with full tank of diesel and the normal stuff we take on our trips. Given I do this, seems to me I will be below the gvw, however if the towing capacity is 20,000lb, seems I will be very close to towing capacity and presumably will have trouble pulling the load, particularly up in the mountains.

Appreciate if anyone could confirm the towing capacity for my 04 6.0L diesel truck.

As well, if I am tight, can a Superchip, or similar product, help my cause? or will it simply screw it up?

Thanks, look forward to your comments. Thanks,
-- JP

If you find you don't have the power to get up the hills, look into www.bankspower.com There stuff is a-lot safer than pretty much all of the aftermarket companies. It does cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for and there stuff will not screw your truck up. They have many different packages available to suit any need.

I have a 03 6.0 sw 350 and tow a 38 ft. montana and gross out at close to 20,000 lbs, you will have no problem towing your trailer. you will not need a chip beleive me, this truck has plenty of power.
