The boot has a hole in it causing all fluid to come right out. But I have a question about it. Is the boot actually supposed to hold the fluid in or is there a seal that failed? I know they're supposed to be dust boots, so I'm confused.

Does anybody know where I can get that seal?

The boot your talking about is a dust boot.
In order for it to leak the inner seal must be leaking..
I would get a rebuilt steering rack put in.

There's not a simple seal available? It's my dad's old pickup and we already replaced the rack a few months ago with a used one. He hardly drives it at all and plans on selling it soon.

Auto Zone and Oreilly don't carry it. Anywhere else? I'll call Napa right now.

Check around and see if you can find a rebulit steering rack if not then I don't know to then. Go to a salvage yard and see if they have a good steering rack for sale.

Well I just wanted to know if there was a seal available that I just couldn't find myself. I guess this answers my question. There are rebuilt racks around, and even used ones. But a cheap seal would be cheaper than even a used rack. You'd think one would be available with such a popular truck. The first rack just cracked right down the middle.

Did you try to find a good used seal at a salvage yard. If you could find a good used one that would work till you sale it.
