Hey, how do you weld 2 pieces of metal that have been cromed together? I have a bicycle wheel that I am trying to weld a sprocket to. Could I use some kind of apoxy since I do not know or have equipment to weld. Also, could I use map gas?

The chrome needs to be ground off for a weld.. The 'best' way would be to have it mig welded, tig welded, heliarc'd if aluminium.. If you use any kind of gas welding equipment, be it oxy/acet. or map ect. the two work pieces need to be pre heated and can cause distortion (especially if disimiliar thicknesses trying to get equal preheat) and possibly metal fatigue from the high heat of a torch.. Gas welding/brazing it is an option if the metal/steel isn't too thick, but arc is a better weld/strenght.. Not sure I'd want to ride a bike with a sprocket that was epoxy'd on, but products like JB Weld offer 'metalized' epoxy that has a pretty high holding strenght.. I'd suggest a quality weld though over a attempted chemical bonding hold..
