I have a 2002 Escape with 150000 miles. About a minute after I start it there are five series of five beeps from under the dash. There are no warning lights lit and the beeping comes back every half hour or so. It is a differant sound than the other warning sounds, more flat.

I stopped at a Ford dealer who said they had never heard of the problem but could keep it for a while and try to find out what it is.

Any ideas?

Nothing that I know of. The alarm is the factory OE. I bought the car used and wasn't informed of any aftermarket intallations.

Certen car dealers use a a system the disable's a car if a payment is not made.
If it beep's it may be a warning.
If this may be the case.

My 2003 Escape has the beeping problem too and its coming from inside the display console that houses the speedometer, tach, fuel gage, etc.  I changed the lights out and still is doing it. There is 3 plugs that come into the display panel and I unplugged them individually and its in the center plug that has the beeping.

It's the airbag system (SRS).

I was wondering if anyone could tell me definite source of these beeps?  My problem is - there is nothing we could find in owners manual.  Ford service men say bring car in and they will scan it and find out problem.  Other garages say if check engine light isn't on they can't scan it.  Why would Ford set alarm in car and have nothing in the manual to tell you what problem is.  I don't mind fixing the problem.... but I have a real problem with having to pay to have it scanned to identify a predetermined alarm.
