The little woman has a Ford Escape and the last few times we fueled it, the nozzle kicks off very frequently. I've tried backing the nozzle out almost all the way. The fill tube seems to be staying full too long. This has been happening at different gas stations.

I have looked down the fill tube and there isn't a small metal flap there as there is on most vehicles, I can't recall if there was one before or not. There aren't any visible obstructions.

Anyone else run into this problem ??

Take it to the dealer. There is a TSB specifically for this problem.
TSB 05-18-4 Some 2005-2006 Escape, Escape Hybrid and Mariner vehicles may exhibit a slow fuel fill or frequent filling station pump shut-offs, when refueling.

Install a revised fuel tank filler pipe. The revised pipe has an improved radius to increase the fuel flow rate.
