The blower motor has quit working in my 03 Taurus. I have checked all the fuses and swapped relays with known good ones and the problem persists. My wife says she can hear it try to turn after it is on for a while so I suspect the motor has probably died.

My question for all you Taurus experts is where is the motor physically located in the car? Is it hard to replace?

Any insight you might have on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Rick . . . . I also have a 2003 SEL. Blower motor quit on it, too. Went to my dealer, It turns out that Ford Motor Company has a bulletin out concerning this problem. Mounted on the fire wall of the pasenger side just below the windshield is a filter for fresh air intake. This filter is suppose to be covered by something referred to as a "Top Hat". It was missed on too many cars but never had a recall. It was missing on my car and water leaked in there and took out the blower motor. FMC should have had a recall for this problem! Not sure how good of a relationship you have with your Ford Dealer, but my dealer has repaired items like this for nothing due to the issued bulletin . . . . . . maybe it's because I have bought 7 Fords there in the last 15 years. Don't know if this is the problem, but would be a good place to start.

That sounds like a good possibility, could also be blower motor resistor? but motor sounds like best bet here.

Just a followup on this thread.  My 2001 Taurus blower motor stopped working on all speeds.  I found this thread and removed the motor.  Sure enough, rusty water came out of the blower and motor housing.  Probably about couple of ounces!!!  Initially connecting 12 volts to the motor did not get the motor to rum.  However after blowing air through the motor and drying it out as best I could, it did run when connected to a 12 volt battery.

In regards to the blower motor. What would I expect to pay to have the motor replaced?
