I noticed some condensation forming in the casing for my headlight and thought nothing of. This morning, after a lot of rain, the casing is about 1/4 full of water. Now the headlight and signal light won't work. How do I get water out, make sure water does not get back in and is this going to be time consuming to fix where I should wait for the weekend to fix.
Replaced the headlight and the light bulb burst after a few minutes of replacing it. I have a bad feeling about this.

Well, to fix it proper, you need to replace the unit. Trying to reseal it is next to impossible. You could drill a small hole in the bottom of the light somewhere to let the water drain out. I did that on an Econoline taillight once.

Replace the headlight unit. This is the only permanent fix.

I didn't notice what year you have, but I had the same problem with both a 1990 and a 1997 escort. I simply drilled a couple small holes in the bottom of the lense. It let all the water out and being I did the bottom, no extra water from rain, ect... could get in. For me, the problem was fixed and never returned.
