Hi I have a 97 Ford Taurus and it was working fine until a day ago when the brakes don't work so well anymore... I put some brake fluid (it was clearly needed because the level was really low) but that doesn't seem to solve my issue with the brakes... I really have to press really hard for the car to stop... Someone has any idea what would be the problem (pump brake, pads?) and how much money would that probably cost to have it fixed? Thanx a lot, I appreciate it.

If the brake fluid dropped low enough, then air might have entered the system. That could explain a change in braking over a short time (i.e. 1 day) and why adding fluid didn't improve things. After you replace the brakes or repair the leak, be sure to completely bleed the system so that no air remains.
