Im new to fords but not autos.
Been tuning on chevys, subarus, isuzus and VW my whole life.
My work recently bought a 99 Ford E150 1/2 ton van for deliveries (for me) w/120k miles.
Within the 1st week the check engine light came on.
#3 misfire
Took it to firestone service center down the street and they pulled the plug.
The electrode was completely gone!
Upon further inspection they found that the IMRC seal is leaking over #3 piston (intake manifold runner control)
They told us that they have to replace the entire manifold to fix the leaking seal.
Is this true?
Cant you just remove the manifold and replace the gasket?
I mean , chevys , you could.
That mani replacment comes to the cost of $1100
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not familiar with the e150, BUT, I would get a second opinion. I would think if there was a leak, just like you, to replace the manifold gasket. I just did that in my ranger a few months back. I know, diferent engine and vehicle, but the same concept as far as the gasket.
