Hey Guys im new here and have a question. I bought a 1988 Pony Escrt, it has been sitting for quit a while....well anyways, i took it for a spin the other day and no i cant get it started. I poored a little fuel down in the air box and it would fire up for a sec or so. Has anyone heard of this and if so what do i need to get it fixed. Thanks in advance.

If it runs with fuel injected into air box then you have 1 of the following problems. Fuel Pump, Fuel pump relay, Inertia switch somehow became engaged.

If you have fuel in the tank you ethier have a bad fuel pump or a bad fuel pump relay.Listen for the pump when you turn the key.

Fuel pump is in the gas tank... Did you check the inertia switch it will cut off power to the pump.

If you have owners manual it should show exact location, but if I remember right it might be in trunk area mabey left side behind wheelwell carpeting, might be right side, I'm just not sure Ford had a tendency to move these all over the place. Look to make sure the red button does'nt need to be depressed. If its popped up then it will kill power to pump.
