I actually own two Probes.. A 90 (LX, 5 Speed) and a 92 (LX, Auto)..

This question is about the 92.

It's my daughter's mom's car.. I've driven it about 20 miles.. It's a beater, for her to drive until she can afford something better..

I'd planned to rob it for body parts, but of course, it was wrecked by her this winter.. It leaks oil like a drunk peeing..

Okay.. For the past few days, she's related the manual shift light is flashing..

It seems to bear NO relation to the manual shift button on the transmission selector is in or not..

Any ideas?? Again, it's a piece of junk at this part.... I'm not going to do a tranny replacement.. But if a filter change is what it's asking for, I'd dump some cash into changing it, only to make the light quit flashing so we can sell it. :)

Ugh..

I found my service manual... It's been packed away, since I've been getting ready to move..

Quote 1991 Ford Probe Car Shop Manual..

Page 07-01-21

Condition: Manual Light Flashing

Possible Source: Control Module
Sensors
Circuit

Action: Go to Switch Monitor Test SMA

Anyone know what a 4EAT tester is??

Page 07-01-23 it suggests I attach one of these.. Uh.. I don't have one, but the next test (SMB) offers VOM readings.. I have a VOM.. :)

Any ideas???????

I'd recommend checking out ProbeTalk.com as well as MX6.com. there's a wealth of information over there to help you out with exactly what you need.
