I know I am probably posting this in the wrong section but i didn't know where else to post it. I have a 302 from a 85 T-Bird and i wam putting it into a 78 Pinto cruisin wagon as a project with my dad. We searched and found that people use the oil pans and ect from the mustang 2 302. well we are gonna rebuild the motor and put it in but when i searched summit i found that the mustand 2 302 and the T-Bird 302 that I have pull up two different rebuild kits. My question is what is the difference between the blocks if there is any at all. we are tearing down the motor to a bare block and building it from their so would it really make a differene which rebuild kit it get?

Need the kit for the newer motor 'cause it is the newer motor. Difference between blocks (if you have an '85 NON-EFI) is not radical. Minor changes basically. Gasket surfaces could be different so go with the newer kit.
