Oh geeze, I'm losing it here. First accident with 97 Ford TB - trunk damage = $7000 repair, $1000 more than the insurance company wanted to pay.

Second accident with 97 Ford TB, front quarter hit by jerk running a red light, SAME QUOTE $7000. So we are being PRESSURED to sell the car for scrap - again.

Is there a big market for the salvage of this vehicle? Anyone know? I'm tempted to tell my mom to buy it back and drag it out my rural house and we'll drop it here, just to take it away from the money hungry jerks.

Since your mom is so attached to this car (read that in one of your prior posts), buying it back might be something she should consider, as long as there's no frame damage. I've done this once myself - my Mustang was stolen and recovered wrecked, and my insurance company totalled it out. I bought it back for $500, repaired the car myself and received enough money from my insurance settlement to cover all repairs, pay-off the balance of my loan on the car AND buy a new Blaupunkt stereo system and Kicker II subsystem - what an awesome deal for me!

I would have a trustworthy mechanic inspect the Thunderbird and give you a quote on the repairs. If you, your hubby or anyone else can repair it, that'd even save more money. After you obtain the reasonable repair estimates, just weigh the pros and cons if your mom were to keep the car. Sometimes an unfortunate circumstance can be a blessing in disguise, as it was for me.
