If I have a '97 ranger xlt (manual trans/4 cyl) and want to buy a '98 just for parts (engine, etc), will they be compatible?  For example, will '98 engine "fit" and work in the '97?
Thanks!!!!

Yes, almost all will interchange.  As long as they are both 2.3, or 2.5 liter engines.  If one is 2.3 and one is 2.5 then there will be some differences.
