Agreed...sometimes my experience helps out, sometimes what I went through doesn't apply to anyone. There's too many variables. Posting the fix helps everyone learn.

i have 1996 ranger 2.3l splash. have same problem, could u explain your fix.

Motorcrazy8 the temp will register low doue to fuild not moving by the temp sensor............FYI if you have no temp on the gauge and no heat from the heater this is usually the water pump. Even a fail-safe thermostat failed open will allow the engine to eventually reach a descent temp just very slowly.
