So I was driving home on the freeway today, had been driving all day moving my stuff from house to an apartment. Last trip of the day, on the way home (about 10mins away) every single gauge on my dash falls limp except for the speedo, which was quick to follow. The speedo would occasionly come up but for the most part dead. All of my electronics went silent. No lights, no radio , no nothing. When I pulled off the freeway at my exit, the truck was very hesitent to move. It seemed like the truck didnt know i had my foot on the pedal. It wouldnt move for the most part, but I would leave my foot on the gas and slowly it would crawl , then cut out again. With a lot of patience and a lot of people honking I made it home. Now I have a truck that wont start in my driveway, when I turn the key it'll start to turnover then cut out and hear a loud ticking (starter I'm guessing?) . Anyways, I dont know where to start with this one, its a 97 f150 , 4.6 with the auto. Any input would be great.

Try cleaning the battery cables then checking for a loose alternator wire. Last a jumped brush in the alternator could do it. Looking for a popped fuse or two will help only after you locate the culprit.

Agreed. Sounds like alternator trouble.
