The zx5 doesnt have the same engine...The SVT has a zetec but its a longer block and a few other things are different. Thats the reason u cant swap an svt 6spd tanny. SVT focus's arent all that special anyway...Only a 170 hp and some crap torque.. A few modifications to a zx3 or 5 would keep up or even beet the the svt. With the new duratecs coming the svt aint gonna have crap on one of those with a couple bolt ons. I read about a girl who had bolt ons on her duratec and was in the low 14's. They react so well to modifcations.....Thats just some ramble of mine. Oh I drive a zx3 with quite a few mods

I am sorry sir, but you are completely mistaken. The Block on the SVT vs the ZX3, are the same bore, stroke and block size. The differences in the SVTs is that they have better rods and the cylinder head with the variable cam timing and better port work. You CAN bolt a 6 speed Getrag trans to the ZX3, but you need the whole deal to make it work. Linkages, transaxle and transmission (yes, they are 2 different things) and half shafts.
Yes, I have to agree with the comment about the bolt ons SVT vs ZX3. I had a ZX3 making over 200 whp(see the page @ The Focus) and I couldnt find but a few SVTFs that could take me.
The 170 hp? LMFAO, they wish they had 170. They are rated at 164 factory FLYWHEEL hp. I have dynod many, and the most that any of them made bone stock was 155, and that was a factory freak. The average is around 143-146hp at the tires.
The "girl" you are talking about is actually just the driver. The black 2.3L duratec Focus (that you saw in the article you read out of Focus Fanatic magazine) is owned by Dennis Hilliard of Focus Central in California. That is their test car, and she drives it for them in bracket and show events.
A modified ZX3 huh? Cool. Whats the mods list? Any drag time slips? Dyno numbers? Pics?

I have a 2003 ZX3 (not SVT) with quite a few mods also. Oh and I believe that Focus Central is out of business now.
