HI guys, I just started having noises coming from the front end of my 02 whenever going over RR tracks or bumpy roads. On smooth highways I don't hear anything. I've ruled out it being a brake caliper--If I go over a bumpy road and apply the brakes, the noises are still there. Anybody else experience this? I've driven some at used car dealers and some of these had the same noise and I ruled the car out based on the suspension noise. That leads me to believe that this may be a common thing on these cars. Any help would be appreciated and will keep me from wasting time trying to find the problem. Also, the steering feels okay with no jerking or anything coming from it. Some kind of bushings? Struts? Thanks in advance, Jay, rcode Boss 351 Driver.

I have the same problem on my 99 Taurus SE. I have had a local mechanic and the dealership look at mine, they told me there was nothing wrong with it but said sway bars are a common problem on a Taurus because they are plastic.

99 % of the time it is the stabilizer bars just reach in the wheel well and grab ahold of the bar where the link is and pull up and down any little movement will be your noise .see this everyday on focus and escapes as well.

Hi there...

I got a 1998 Taurus SE and I have also front suspension noises going on.
But it happend from now to then.
A couple weeks ago a mechanic changed the struts and the drive axles in the front.
For about four weeks everythig was fine but from now to then I could hear a klonky noise from the front right end of the car.
you can only hear it on like bumpy roads. Is the road nice and smooth you can't hear anything.

I was thinking of bad rubber parts in the front suspension but than I was thinking maybe something got loose .
I can't get parts that easy , because I moved to germany with that car.
Would it help to tighten all connections on the suspension ?

I'd appreciate some help and maybe somebody has some ideas.
Thanks in advance

Mario

The sway bars are not plastic. Sounds like a sway bar end link noise to me, and yes they are plastic but i doubt the plastic part of it is what is bad. On an 02 it should still be under warranty unless you have a lot of miles on it. Just my $.02

I have a 00 taurus se. And when i got my car there was a loud clunking noise when ever i hit big bumps. It came from my left front wheel. So i was like wtf.. and i put my hand in the wheel well and i felt that one of my coils was snapped on the spring. Which was causing the clunking noise

I just had both sway bars replaced and all the noise has stopped. I had aftermarked metal ones put on with a grease fitting that are supposed to be much better. They were only a few dollars more that the stock plastic ones.
