Anybody know anything about the sensor/switch that tells the truck that the door is shut? First, my door ajar light stayed on, now my interior lights wont shut off. It is in my driver side door. I am assuming that for some reason, the truck can't tell the door is shut.....Help please.

The switch for the dome lights and so forth is located in the door latch assemble (I think) it was in my 98 windstar anyway and they where sticking and i sprayed the door latch assembly with WD40 and they began to work fine.

I also have this problem. Read this reply last night and have heavily sprayed the latch. It took care of the "door ajar" light, but the dome light and bed-light still stay on for 30-60 minutes after I shut the truck off. They also stay on all of the time when I am driving down the road! Any more suggestions? I don't really feel like going to the Ford garage about it if they are just going to spray something else with wd-40 and charge me a bundle. Thanks for your help! :)

those switch's work on the ground method, it up remove them from the door still, you will find several lil wires on a springs, an contacts, with a plunger on the back side, as, Truckpuller stated some times spraying them down with a tad of WD-40 they will work again temp.the oil washes away the dirt from the contacts so they can make connection again, Another thing you might try doing if I remember rite . They take a 5/8' wrench or socket, Is tighten them up in the door still as they get full of crud around the threads an no longer make a good ground, usually you can get to the wires , after removing the kick panel for that side , most times they only need like a 1/4 turn, an the wires will pivot around the plunger so you really dont need to un-plug any thing unless your going to remove the door switch
