suggest a cold air intake and headers or exhaust improvements, plugs and wires don't really add much as far as performance goes as long as they are working OK.

generally yes, but I'm not at all familiar with the ZX2, so I don't know where the intake is on them. is the air filter under the hood or does it pull air from the fenderwell area?

in that case, it's already getting cold air from outside the engine compartment. have you thought about changing the filter to a K & N filter? these flow a lot more air than a stock paper type filter and are washable and reusable too. anything that helps the engine get more air in and more exhaust gases out will improve the performance as an engine is nothing more than an air pump. more air you can get in and out, the more fuel you can burn and the more HP you can make. things like low restriction air filters, larger MAF meters, larger throttle bodies, better flowing heads, bigger cams, headers, low restriction exhaust systems all make the engine a more efficient pump.
