My engine is cutting out on me when I come to a stop and when I am slowing down. It will idle normal then all of a sudden stop when I am at a redlight. It started back up after about 5 minutes of sitting and stalled again the next time I slowed down. This all happened several times today and this is the first time it has happened. Its a 71 Mach 1 with a 351C 2V. There are 38,000 orignial miles on the car. It is bone stock with the exception of the intake and carb which I changed last year. It is getting gas and turns over easy, but it seems like it's not getting spark. I just replaced the plugs, wires and rotor last year and also switched to a pertronix ignitor II.

sounds like you got the majority of it covered,, it being a older car id imagine maybe changing the coil could help out it certianly couldnt hurt. Also did that year car have points type ignition? if so points could be to blame. i had a 71 olds cutlass with a 350 that had points it seemed like i was burning them bad boys up every other week till i switched over to hei ignition from like a 78 then i was good as gold. let me know whats going on with it and if anything changes ..good luck

If you have power brakes on the car, then I would guess that the brake booster has a vacuum leak in the diaphram. This would explain why it only happens when you slow down or stop. Start it up in the driveway and then push down firmly on the brakes to see if it makes a difference. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thats a very good point enibum, vacuum lose could very well be the problem! id check into that as well, come to think of it awhile back i had a buddy with a car  that was stalling all over the place. I took a look at it for him real fast and just by useing some electrical tape as a temporary fix ,i showed him by tapeing over a few of those little dry rotted vacuum hoses made it start and stayed  running probably 70% better then it had not even 5 minutes before that. after he actually went and got all the vacuum hoses to replace the dry rotted ones he had, it ran fine.
