Here goes with the first post to the forum..... I have a 99 Expedition with the 5.4 and 90K miles. I dropped it off at the dealership today to get it checked out. The service engine light has been on for the past couple of months. I had taken it to a local service station when the light originally came on and they ran the code and said it had something to do with the fuel injection, but to keep driving it unless it started giving us problems. I figured it was time to get it checked because we are having some other issues also. First....the motor has started pinging if you run anything other than premium. This actually started long before the check engine light ever came on. It has probably been going on for over a year or so. Needless to say we have been paying the higher cost of premium for a while. Could a new fuel filter and flush of the fuel system help this?? Next, the transmission has started to hesitate or slip a little when going into overdrive. This doesn't happen all the time and only occurs when you are accelerating at a slow pace with little load on the transmission. Last time I serviced the tranny was around 40K so I know its time for a service there too. Could servicing maybe fix the problem?? Any suggestions are appreciated.
