I was just remembering somthing I heard awhile back maybe 3 to 6 months ago, I thought it was interesting so I will share. Did you guys know Adolf Hitler or how ever his name is spelled designed a car back in the 30's that could top out at over 180 MPH !!!!! Thats fast especially for them days, I think at the time most /every race car in the world was lucky to get anywhere near half that top speed. And did I even mention yet this was only a 6 cylinder maybe 4 cylinder but im petty sure it was a 6 hitting 180 MPH in the early 30's...I dont know,, but hearing numbers like that from over 70 years ago makes me a little diappointed that we havent come any father then we have with cars..Oh and by the way I never actually heard what Hitlers 180 MPH car went for but I heard back several months ago right before it was to be auctioned that it would probably be the highest amount any used car has ever resold for. Starting bid I believe was 16 million I could be mistaken its been awahile but i think that was the starting bid for it.......... P.S. This info was only about the car not the man that invented it,,,, so please no one be offended by me mentioning him.

This doesn't surprise me that the newer cars are not doing this. It isn't because though, of the technology. The cars today can probably do those kind of speeds, but it is the government and EPA regulations that are preventing vehicles to become speed demons for safety and the environment.

Tru I agree 100% about the saftey and gov. being the reason cars these days not going this fast..But I guess what im trying to get at is if Hitler was that far ahead of the times back then ,,,,just imagine where cars would be now if Hitler would have been a car builder/designer instead of living his life the way he actually did, He probably would have been more famous to the car world then,, Carrol Shelby,,,, or John Delorian. I dont now Im not saying street cars should go any faster then they already do..I guess my point is if American car builder/designers could have done what Hitler was able to do back in them days maybe American car builders today would be making better quality cars and trucks. And besides technoligy isnt everything ,we have all kinds of technoligy these days and we still cant do some things that were done along time ago,, example "Samuri metal" no matter how many cumputerized gadgets we have these days we still cant produce that metal,,, but they did produce it back when about the biggest technological advancement was fire!!! lol
