I have ran in to a problem on a Grand Am, when traveling along at around 40 and you gave it a small amount of gas it would buck wil a stick shift it too high a gear. If you are having symptons similar to this, you may want to check into the torque converter lock up switch hanging. The other thing to check, but it tends to happed under load at low RPM regardless of the gear, is hair line fracture in a spark plug. chased this problem with my Dad on a 1980 dodge van for 3 weeks, finally we replaced the new plugs again and it was gone. The other item that can simulate this is a bad coil pack.
