Anyone ever put a modern 5.0 EFI into a 1979 F100? I need a new motor, and I would prefer to put a modern induction set-up into it. The reason being, I live in CA and am required to smog my ride :/ I would need a new wiring harness and the computer, right? Does anyone know if this is even legal here? I would of course want to put a true dual exhaust with 2 catalytics..... can someone point me where to go for info plz?

Can you say pain in the ass?

Wireing up EFI in any vehicle is hard, let alone one that was made before EFI was even thought of.

You have to have a 79 Smogged?

It can be done, but unless your good with electrical then I would forget it, and if you decide to swap you might as well go with a 351W and pick up some power in the process.

You could get one of those stand alone EFI systems, which would be alot eaiser to hook up, but still not as easy as a Carburator.

later,
Dustin
