I have a 95 ford ranger bought it new it,never made me walk until 180,000 miles it cut off I thought it was timing belt was not but I'm replaceing everything in
sight while I have down water pump all belts hoses everything my problem is the crankshaft pulley my auto parts store has directed me to every puller they have and I have yet to find one that will work to get damper or harmonic off. I may be asking for wrong engine size it reads 2.3 L and some people say it may be madza engine this is all news to me. I'm old school mechanic and not a guesser or parts changer at 180,000 this truck ran like new because I mantained it to
a Tee and is worth this attention it uses no oil and I used same brand oil sense new. Are there a trick in pulling this pulley, all I have spoke with has had no problems with this? Someone please inlighten me I'm an old points and plugs tech and can not afford the high prices of repair these days thanks in advance for
any help.

As far as i know there is only 1 2.3 litre engine Ford used. Why wont the pullers that everyone has suggested not working ie dont fit to small to big or what.

Some of those crankshaft pulleys fit pretty tight and may require the use of an air impact

Hi and thanks for quick reply, all the pullers that I bought or were loaned have the bolts sets and my pulley have no bolt holes at all just the center faster bolt.
I have impact tools and air hammer, was thinking about applying pressure and making some friction with air hammer this works well on tie end rods, but the crankshaft is not tappered like tie end joints what you think? I never been so frustrated I tried 6 inch 3 finger puller it almost grabbed it just a bit short but if it took holt I dont think it would be solid enought. I've changed hundreds of these but never seen this. For some reason Madza & metric I think is got me puzzled
