i have a 1980 LTD wagon ,with a 302, and when i turn the key to start it all i get is this kind of buzzing clicking sound from what seems to be behind the passenger side dash. Could it be the starter or some realy in that area? i just put a newly recharged battery in that has i believe 750 C.A. should it be more? and could that be the problem? because obviously i have no idea, please help me. thanks.

It could easily be the starter solenoid, however if your starting system requires a battery with more than 750 cranking amps you would be wise to start by replacing the battery with one that has enough juice to start it. Older fords are usually not that difficult to find the problems in the starting system. Here are the top four : 1. Dirty battrty cables   2. Incorrect battery  3. Starter solenoid  4. Starter (which also has a switch in it and can burn through the contact point over a long period of years or extremely high number of starts)  For a real professional the last two can be disassembled, checked and put right back together (assuming they're OK).
