2001 Escape/automatic-133,000 miles....spent over $900.00 for fuel pump, fuel filter, relay, towing, & various wiring problems probably caused by the mechanics themselves. ( local garage in the area ). A week later, I drove about 20 mins. & stopped a few times along the way. When I tried to start the engine, it started but completely died within 5 seconds.Engine & oil lite go on.I tried several times. This was the initial problem. By the time the mechanic got to me an hour later, the car was able to start.
I'd hate to continue like this & worry about when & where I will get stuck next. Now what ??   Thanx.

If your problem before was it would start fine but not idle especially if it would run with your foot on the peddle a little then the IAC Idle Air Control vale is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The replacement parts is like $50s and it takes about 5 minutes to change. Now what the locals have done to your car I'll need info on what it is doing now....

Good luck man
