Rotary Switch

DMOORE363 -> Rotary Switch (8/10/2007 11:00:44 AM)

I have a 1970 Ford Torino. I'm looking for a replacement Rotary Vacuum switch. It goes inside of the dash. Any ideas, for finding one or locating a replacement from a different year car. Thank you for your help.

The switch for the air conditioning is a very hard item to come by. A replacement would ideally be unused and have been stored at a constant medium temperature for the rubber slider inside it to last any long time. The only A/C part I have left personally is a vaccum- operated vent pull from a '75 Ford Elite with A/C. Some old coot in a salvage yard somewhere may have one that's even usable. I'd suggest before installing another one though - to spray a special light spray grease that's OK on rubber parts into the ports to keep it from wearing out prematurely. Maybe an automotive air-conditioning company or a specialty parts company may have these switches on hand - but you'll definitely pay more. I guess it's worth it if it's a factory part though. Try going on a search engine and just type in "torino" or "ford torino". That might help too. I know there's a parts company that brings in old cars and sells the good parts off - but it's not ringing in my head right now.
