95 E150 no start, cranks good

95 E150 -> 95 E150 no start, cranks good (6/6/2005 8:16:07 PM)

This is my first time here, I have a 95 E150 5.0l. IT got fairly hot yesterday(near the top of the normal range on the guage). I stopped and added water and the temp was normal for the 1/2 hour drive home. Took it back out for about 15 minutes later that night and temp was still normal, but seemed to have engine control problems intermittently until it warmed up.(running rough, never done that before). I pulled the air filter out after work to locate the water leak, which was a 5/8 hose to the top of the manifold. Since the leak seemed slow, I put everything back together to go get parts. the van would not start,but cranks fine. Yes i did check to make sure i reattached the airflow sensor. I also checked the gas shutoff reset switch. My question is, how do I diagnose whats wrong so i can fixit? Do i check for spark first? how do you check for fuel on this van? at the fuel rail? seems maybe i missed something? Any help is appreciated verrrrrry much.

Does the '95 still have Distributors caps? If so, you may just have water in the cap, may even help explain the rough running. good luck

Somtimes when you overheat an engine it messes up the ECT engine coolant tempature sensor. You need to put a scanner on it and see what it shows when cold. If it shows like 10 degreess or 200 degrees then the computer adjust the wave lenght of the pulse on the injectors which could cause a rich run or lean run condition makeing for a rough running engine.
