I have just bought a Focus 1.8 L Zetec first registered in 2000.
The buttons on the remote key do not operate the door locking, I put a new battery in it but still not operating.
I noticed that the clock on the car was many hours out so I assume the car battery was disconnected at some time. I have tried the procedure for re-teaching the system to identify the key (ie on to off four times until the system "pings" and press the unlock button) but no response. I noticed that the system light flashed as normal after the "ping"!
How can I check the key is operating correctly? I tried it near a scanner radio set to the frequency and a signal was received but not sure if this is enough of a test.
