To forum,

I have read alot of posts of where to find the factory code.....I will look for it in those places and hopefully find it.

But none of the posts say how to use it to program your own code.  Anybody know how to do that?

New purchase for my boy.....no owners manual and no code yet.....

Thanks,

Just found the factory! and it unlocks the driver door just fine......

on 2001 Explorer Sport Trac....mine was located on a sticker, 5 digit code, on the white electronic/computer box behind the rear seat.  Open the cubby hatch door on the passenger side and use a flashlight to see the sticker on the front of this box.  The box is mounted horizontally against the back metal wall right below the rear window in the middle of the cab.

Anybody know how to use it to program your own code?

Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming

  1. Enter the permanent factory keyless entry keypad code.

  • Press the 1/2 button within five seconds to activate the programming mode. Holding the 1/2 button for more than two seconds after activation will erase the stored customer code. The door locks will lock, then unlock, confirming the code is erased. The existing code will not need to be erased to program new a code.

  • Within five seconds, enter the new five-digit keyless entry keypad code. The door locks will lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed.
You can also download an Owners/Operating manual from..  https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp

Thanks Hayapower......worked like a champ.  I downloaded the manual.  I have set a personal code.  But as usual after playing around with things I can't get the "erase function to work".....

    I have personal code in.

    I input the factory code

Within 5 seconds I press and hold the 1/2 button for 2 seconds......

BUT it doesn't erase the code....it doesn't pop up and down the locks or anything......

the personal code stays there and works just like the factory code.

What am I missing to erase the personal code?   does the key need to be in and the ignition on?  all steps mentioned above were done with no key in at all.

    Thanks,

    PK Davis

Yes, I hold it for 2+ seconds, until the lights on the keys go out.

    Found out the answer!

Erasing your Personal Code or A Prior Owner's Code:

    1)  Enter factory code
    2)  Press 1/2 key within five seconds of step 1
    3)  Press the 7/8 and 9/0 keys at the same time within 5 seconds of step 2

The system will now only respond to the factory code

    Thanks,

    jwest72,

I found the code on a white sticker on the black computer box located right in the middle behind the rear seat.

There are two entry panels one on the left and one on the right.  The black box is hard to see because it is right in the middle and there is no direct cutout there.....

You will have to look thru both the right side and left side cutouts.

Again the sticker is hard to see, as it is on the front of the black box.  You will need a flashlight.....and if you can read backwards a mirror might help.....

    hope this helps you!
